Experience

Aeromavs Project Management

Summary

Served as the first Project Manager for AeroMavs, a student-run collegiate organization supporting its hybrid rocket development effort, managing organizational planning, documentation, budgeting, scheduling, and safety processes for a student team pursuing an IREC competition vehicle.

Context

As the organization grew, project information, planning, and operational knowledge were largely maintained through informal communication. Workdays, objectives, and project status were difficult to track consistently across members and subteams.

My Role

Managed project logistics and organizational coordination while supporting team leadership. Developed systems to improve planning, documentation, communication, and operational consistency across the project.

Key Contributions

  • Created the organization's first structured workday documentation system.

  • Developed a planning framework that translated annual objectives into monthly goals and scheduled work sessions.

  • Designed a workday preparation model focused on activities before, during, and after each work session.

  • Assisted with budget planning and funding strategy discussions.

  • Contributed to development of safety procedures and operational standards.

  • Implemented an educational roadmap intended to align team understanding before members specialized into technical disciplines.

  • Developed an initial inventory of the project's engineering components.

  • Encouraged broader participation in planning discussions and decision-making processes.

Challenges

Entered a leadership position within a highly technical environment while still developing my own technical background. This required building organizational systems that could support contributors with greater technical specialization while maintaining project alignment.

Result

Established several of the team's first formal planning and documentation practices, creating a foundation for future project coordination and knowledge retention. Elements of these systems continued influencing later organizational leadership after my departure.
